Day 01

Flight to Ecuador, evening arrival in Quito, the capital (9,350ft). Welcome in the airport by your guide and transfer (about 1 hour) to your 5* hotel (with pool, spa, fitness studio, 3 restaurants etc.) or a 4* hotel in the historic centre. Personalized registration of your group and welcome cocktail. Optional dinner at the hotel.


Day 02

Quito – Equator Line – Quito

Visit of Quito and its historic centre, classified as UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Humanity and one of the most beautiful in Latin America, centered around the independence plaza in the heart of old Quito, beautifully restored, many buildings in the baroque style, the famous church “la Compania” is a jewel of plateresque architecture.
Then travel to the neo-colonial village “The Middle of the World”. Lunch in the panoramic restaurant next to the crater Pululahua. Then, visit the Equator monument and the Ethno Scientific Inti Ñan museum where you will learn about the ethnic principals of the country and stand on the latitude 9 line. OR visit the archaeology museum containing el Alabado, or visit the chapel of the most famous Ecuadorian Artist: Oswaldo Guayasamín.
Late afternoon, return to your hotel, enjoy the sun with a cocktail, then have dinner with a spectacular view of the Itchimbia park. Or dinner in another panoramic restaurant on top of the mountain Panecillo. Optional night tour in the historic centre by panoramic bus (bus will pick you up in front of your restaurant or before the dinner during the day). Optional Ballet Folklore show. Night in the same hotel.


Day 03

Quito – Otavalo

Drive along the Panamerican route north until the Andean region of Otavalo. Optional visit of a rose plantation (one of the first exportation products of Ecuador), coffee break or tropical juice, snack on biscuits and homemade cheese in an old plantation house. Stop at the lake San Pablo for the panoramic view of the majestic volcano Imbabura. Visit the famous indigenous market of Otavalo, reputation in Latin America for its size and large variety of textiles and handicrafts of Ecuador. Tradtional lunch with an indigenous Otavaleño, accompanied by music and local dances. Dare to try the local plate “cuy” (guinea pig). Then, continue onto lake Cuicocha, dominated by the highest volcano of the province: Cotacachi, optional hike around the lake. Stop in the village known for its leather goods. OR trip to the artisanal village Peguche, a village of the weavers and musicians. Visit a “Shaman” in the village Iluman. Attend a presentation of his remedies. Dinner and night in a charming historic hacienda 4*.


Day 04

Otavalo – Volcano Antisana – Quito

Final visit in the region or visit the rose plantation (if not done on day 3), optional visit to the region of the volcano Cayambe (3rd highest peak of the country, more than 5700m in height). Then depart to the ecologic reserve of Antisana, the fourth highest volcano of Ecuador with a height of 5743m. About 1h 30 later, we enter in the moorland. On our way, gaze at the impressive view of the Antisana, characterized by the lava rising from the ground. Arrival at Lake Mica, walk along the lake. Lunch in a hacienda of the region that attracts condors and eagles. Return to Quito, dinner, and night in the hotel.


Day 05

Quito – Baños

Early morning departure to the charming city of Baños, famous for its hot springs and its location at the base of Tungurahua Volcano. Continue along the famous route of the volcanoes beginning with the Pasochoa, and the majestic volcano Cotopaxi (active, almost 6000m high). Depending on the climate and the day, possible stop and visit of the indigenous markets of Saquisili or Pujili. Tour of the city known for its thermal springs, its body care, and its artisans. Baños is located in a charming and green subtropical scope near the imposing volcano Tungurahua. Dinner and night in a 4* spa/hotel with pool and thermal bath.


Day 06

Baños – Amazon

Travel to the Rio Verde and walk to the impressive waterfall “Pailon del Diablo”, known for being one of the biggest in Latin America. Hike along a small path lined with flowers, medicinal plants, and trees.
Then continue to the port of the Amazon: Puyo. Stop at the artesanal market on base of “balsa”. Arrival to the region of Tena, Misahualli. Stay in a 4* boutique lodge in the secondary Amazonian forest next to the river Napo. Lodge has pool and is famous for its delicious kitchen. Leave your belongings in the room, rest, and optional visit of a butterfly farm. Dinner and night in the lodge. (or if you wish, 4 days in the Amazon rainforest in Yasuni National Park).


Day 7


Excursion and activities to chose from for the day: canoe ride, hike to the heart of the forest discovering the flowers, medicinal plants, and gigantic trees, observe birds, monkeys, and unique insects. Vist the “saladero” a meeting place for certain species of animals. Observe tropical, multi-coloured flowers, and green vegetation – a real paradise for those who love nature. Lunch in the lodge. In the afternoon, opportunity to visit a kichwa family with a presentation of their handicrafts, their horticultural products, tropical agriculture, and their daily activities. Other activities available, ask guide for suggestions. Return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious dinner. Last night in the Amazonian forest.


Day 08

Amazon – Riobamba – Volcano Chimborazo

Optional rafting expedition on the beautiful Jatun Yacu river (level 3) in the region of Tena. Accompanied with lunch and beer/soft drinks. After, return to the Andes throughout tropical and Andean landscape, to the city of Riobamba, located at the foot of the highest Ecuadorian volcano: Chimborazo (6310m) and surrounded by the volcanoes: Carihuaurazo de 5028m, Altar de 5319m, Cubillines 4455m, and Quilimas 4722m. Lunch on the way. Dinner and night in a charming panoramic hostel in the mountains 3*/4* (in Suite), located on the foot of Chimborazo, or a night in a charming hotel 3*/4* (in suite) in Riobamba. 


Day 09

Riobamba – Train of the Andes – Ingapirca – Cuenca

After breakfast travel to the small train station of Alausi. Ride the train through the impressive landscape of the Devil’s Nose. Arrive to the terminal Sibambe. Snack offered by the local community. Attend a cultural presentation put on by the indigenous community. Then, return to Alausi and continue on to the city of Cuenca. Cuenca is an unique city that is set apart from the rest of Ecuador. Its cobbled streets, cathedrals, and marbles constructions with white facades give the city a colonial character. Historically the home of poets, philosophers, writers, Cuenca is proud of its cultural and intellectual history. Its architectural heritage has also been carefully preserved. On the way to Cuenca, have lunch and visit the Inca Temple “Ingapirca” which contain ruins and a small museum. Dinner in a specially selected restaurant offering traditional specialities of Cuenca. Night in a charming boutique hotel (4*) in Cuenca (or if preferred, a 3* hostel next to the Ingapirca).


Day 10

Cuenca – Gualaceo

In the morning, tour Cuenca and its historic center which has been classified as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Humanity site. Visit a museum in the scenic El Juri and observe how the famous “Panama” hats are made. Shop around in a store containing works of art from the famous ceramist Eduardo de la Vega. Luxurious lunch in an old convent. Afternoon visit of the aborigines culture museum. Other museums available to visit (ask guide) or take an excursion to the valley of Cualaceo, appreciated for its landscape, villages, and handicrafts (silver, shawls, hats,…). Dinner and night in the same hotel.


Day 11

Cuenca – Guayaquil

Drive to the coastal region passing a variety of fascinating Andean and subtropical landscapes. On the way, take a walk around the national Andean park of Lake Cajas and have lunch in a charming hostel in the countryside. Optional visit to a State of Cacao production in the subtropical region accompanied by a traditional local lunch. Arrive in the economic capital and most important harbor of the country: Guayaquil. Dinner and night in a 4* boutique hotel in the old district “Las Peñas” with view over the river Guayas. Optional cocktail and boat tour on the river before dinner or the following evening.


Day 12

Guayaquil – Flight back

After breakfast, take a panoramic tour and walk through the city. Discover its iguana park, “Malecon 2000”, “Las Peñas” old historic district which offer beautiful views over the river Guayas. Enjoy a Goodbye-cocktail, “guayaquileño” lunch in a traditional and well-known restaurant. Optional (morning reccommended) boat tour or visit of the historic and social park of Guayaquil. Dinner and transport to the airport. Flight back to your country (or optional additional night in Guayaquil following a cruise to the Galapagos Islands the next morning).
