The cloud tropical forest of Mindo is “hallucinating” biodiversity, the Mindo weather is amazing. This region is a paradise for nature lovers, passionate birds or plants. The ideal place to rest, withdraw from the urban world, work, … Perfect stay in families, groups of friends, biologists (looking for insects, amphibians ..) or for adventurers. The Eco-chalet is located 2.5 km from the village of Mindo, in the middle of the forest and down of a mountain. A stream with crystal clear water crosses the field. At about fifteen minutes you will find the first waterfall followed by a series of magnificent waterfalls. Around the chalet, you can observe more than 80 species of birds (hummingbirds, parrots, toucans, tangares, sparrows, swallows …) and dozens of species of butterflies.
Departure from your hotel in Quito for the cloud forest of Mindo (2h drive), a paradise for birds, butterflies, tropical flora, chocolate, waterfalls, adventure sports, … On the way, stop at “The Mitad del Mundo“ to see either, the village and the monument located on the equatorial line either, to visit the ethnoscientific museum Inti Ñan or the archaeological museum of Tulip ancient ethnic culture of “Yumbo“. Coffee break in a hummingbird observatory overlooking the beautiful cloud forest. Possible walk to waterfalls or other activities. Arrival at the Eco-lodge surrounded by tropical nature or in a lodge with a swimming pool in case of non-availability. Dinner “Pizza“ and overnight in the chalet.
Bird watching in the Mindo forest with a specialized guide. Breakfast. Zipline flying over the forest or descending a waterfall. Lunch and tasting of “Tilapia“, local fish and possibility of fishing. Visit a chocolate factory with candies. Free time or possible walk or swim in the river. Night walk in the forest and observation of reptiles, insects and amphibians. Dinner free in Mindo. Overnight in the chalet.
Breakfast, and walk in a butterfly farm. Descend of the Mindo River by canyoning, by bike or on horseback to enjoy the landscape. Lunch in a restaurant or barbecue at the chalet. Visit a site and night frog concert around a lake. Dinner and overnight in the chalet.
Either transfer very early in the reserve Angel Paz. Observation of domestic tropical birds as well as “Guianan cock-of-the-rock“, the emblematic bird of the region. Either breakfast and transfer to the organic farm and the Pambilino reserve. Presentation of organic farming, techniques and different plantations. Lunch then return to Quito.
